EventsCommunity Day Monday, October 6, 2008, 8:00-5:00pm. Keynote speaker: Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy (invited) The meeting will also feature speakers on HIV prevention, mental health, and the criminal justice system. Community providers and academic researchers will address the challenges of responding to the social context of HIV risk and enhancing the role of families, broadly defined as networks of mutual commitment, in preventing and treating HIV/AIDS. The sessions will be interactive to develop strategies to respond to HIV/AIDS and family related problems, to identify ways to offer evidence-based programs, and to stimulate new research ideas that will benefit families and support networks. Community day will also include skill-building workshops and a Town Hall meeting. During the workshops, attendees can learn evidence-based skills such as:
The Town Hall meeting will give attendees a forum in which to discuss the challenges that they encounter in their work and to share effective practices.
